Have you ever felt different, special, isolated, unique, misunderstood, unseen?
We all have.
Introducing: Who Are You? A documentary photo project featuring raw, soulful portraits of humans shot on 35mm film.
When I first walked into 7th Circle about a year ago I was met with a vibrant punk rock/hard core scene that I had no idea existed. I felt like I was transported back to NYC 1979. My first thought was, I have to photograph these beautiful kids! A year later with the generous help of Aaron Saye I was able to start my project. I cannot tell you how kind & open these young people were, I am so grateful that they so openly shared themselves with me. This is just the beginning.
"Les Mardi Gras s'en vient de tout partout. Deep in back woods of rural Louisiana Mardi Gras is done a bit differently. I was lucky enough to get an exclusive look into the inner workings of this long time tradition as passed down through the generations.
Our elders have a story in their eyes that needs to be told. I have always been fascinated, intrigued & inspired by our elderly population. Ever since I was young I ceased to understand why we don't listen, look & hear these wonderful humans. I am on a mission to visit nursing homes across the country & share the eyes of wisdom of our elders.
We are afraid to talk about it and terrified to look at it. Our most vulnerable and mysterious moment of life, death.
Goldman Thibodeaux is an American living legend. He was instrumental in reviving modern Zydeco & Creole music. He & his wife Teresa graciously allowed me & my camera into their home in rural Louisiana.
